The terms, in plain words
Your character sheet is built in layers — raw measurements combine into dispositions, dispositions into the meaningful things you do, all of it heading toward one place. Here is the whole vocabulary, ground up.
Attributes — the six raw measurements
The floor of the sheet. Everything else is built from these.
- STR · Strength — force and output capacity.
- DEX · Dexterity — precision, timing, fine calibration.
- CON · Constitution — endurance, staying-power over time.
- INT · Intelligence — analysis, synthesis, cross-reference.
- WIS · Wisdom — judgment, reading people and situations.
- CHA · Charisma — relational presence, derived from your Bonds.
Ideals — the three directions
Each pair of Attributes points along one Ideal. Your top Ideal is the direction your energy most naturally runs.
- Fealty (CON + CHA) — showing up, loyalty, sustained presence. The steadiness of staying.
- Revelry (DEX + INT) — discovery, calibration, the click of figuring something out.
- Valor (STR + WIS) — directed output, becoming, protecting. Making something happen.
Temperaments — the seven shapes
When Attributes combine, seven coherent dispositions emerge. Three sit at the centre (grounding); four lean to a specialty.
- Stability — sustaining the current configuration across time.
- Vitality — living function; the body-substrate running.
- Serenity — the ground-state of Joy; returning to baseline.
- Agency — the power and pull to act, to build what isn't yet.
- Connection — sustained binding to people and commitments.
- Expression — manifesting your specific self outward.
- Discernment — recognition; seeing what is actually there.
Purposes — the eight things you do
Every intentional act is one of eight "Honor → Joy" operations: honoring something, in motion toward Joy. Each is built from a primary and secondary Temperament, with Serenity as the shared destination.
- Maintenance — keeping yourself running as you are.
- Repair — restoring function that broke.
- Capacity — building ability that doesn't exist yet.
- Defense — protecting against a loss that hasn't happened.
- Debt — honoring a word or obligation made earlier.
- Bonds — enacting your relationships with people.
- Investment — manifesting your chosen life's-work.
- Experience — honoring a felt experience for its own sake.
Beliefs & Bias
A Belief is a load-bearing rule your behavior already follows — whether or not you've ever said it aloud. Each carries a provenance: inherited (from how you were raised or trained), derived from your own observation, or an inherited seed you tested and rebuilt. Bias is how you hold each belief, scored as a range on four axes — Ego (rule-breaking ↔ rule-following), Id (others' good ↔ your own), Superego (withdrawn ↔ engaged), Intent (harm ↔ care). The same person can hold one belief rigidly and another loosely; that's specificity, not contradiction.
Bonds & depth
A Bond is something or someone your life has organized around. Depth runs Acquaintance → Companion → Devoted → Profound, by how much of your life reorganized for it. The deepest — where losing it would feel like structural collapse, not just grief — can elevate to Purpose-tier. Your Charisma is the sum of your Bonds: connection is what makes it grow.
Honor → Joy
The one sentence under every Purpose: Honor [the thing] → Joy. Your Honor→Joy line names what you are already doing when you're most yourself, stated as purpose — the destination your whole sheet has been sailing toward.
Skills & Lores
13 Skills (each exploding into 3 sub-skills — 39 in all) cover what you can do; 18 Lores cover what you know. Competency runs Unfamiliar → Practiced → Proficient → Fluent → Fundamental — from "I've heard of it" to "I understand why it works and can derive new knowledge from first principles." The full sheet ranks every one.
Your archetype — what you're built to be exceptional at
From the shape of your Temperaments, one gift-form usually leads. In plain words:
- The Perceiver — you see what's actually there before others do.
- The Anchor — your word and loyalty are the load-bearing thing.
- The Driver — raw forward will; you act and build.
- The Maker — you manifest what's inside you outward.
- The Keeper — you sustain, steady, and hold things together.
- The Engine — sheer capacity and vitality.
- The Witness — broad, present, quietly attuned.
- The Generalist — range over any single spike; good across the board.
A real gift and a real limitation live in the same person, as one shape. That's the whole idea — and a truer, kinder one than "genius means being good at everything."
